Each tortoise encountered was tagged with a Passive Inductive Transponder (PIT) Tag, if they have not already been previously tagged. A tag reader is used to check for previous tags before insertion of new tags. In total, 63 tortoises were tagged during those three days and GVI staffs along with Marine rangers will be continuing with the work to ensure that all the tortoises on Curieuse are tagged and relevant information about each is collected.
